Politeness

I have translated a poem of Balkhi about Politeness
He was the famous philosopher, poet and knowledgeable wise man of Balkh who gave good advice to all the people around him. Here he says something for all of us about politeness:

Az bay adabi kasay ba jaa-ye naraseed

No one got to a position with misbehaving and impoliteness

Dorrist adab ba har gadaa-ye naraseed

Politeness is a precious stone, not gifted to every beggar

Sar rishta-ye mulk-e-Paadshaahee adab ast

The only clue to the kingdom is Politeness

Taajayst ke juz ba Paadshaahay naraseed

It’s a crown only given to the kings

Az khuda juyeem tawfeeq adab

May God bless us to seek Politeness

Bay adab mahroom maand az lutf-e-rab

Impolite people are deprived of the grace of the God

Bay adab tanhaa na khud raa daasht bad

The impolite person is not only bad to himself

Balkay aatash dar hama aafaaq zad

But he’ll bring fire to all his environment
